The world’s largest pharmaceutical company announced Tuesday that it is planning to launch its blockbuster schizophrenia drug Seroquel in the United States.
The company has estimated that the drug will reach $1 billion by year’s end, with sales expected to reach $1.8 billion by year’s end.
Sales of Seroquel in the United States have been declining, and in September, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration announced the drug’s first-quarter sales figures for the year.
The drug’s average annual sales for Seroquel were $1.6 billion, down 1.3 percent from a year earlier, according to IMS Health data, indicating the drug’s average sales were lower than the company’s reported sales.

Seroquel was originally developed to treat schizophrenia but has since been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for other uses.
Originally developed by drug company GlaxoSmithKline, Seroquel was marketed in the United States in 1997, and since that time it has been approved for treatment of schizophrenia, the company said in its release.

A few years ago, my doctor prescribed Seroquel. It is an atypical antipsychotic medication that is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is important to know that it does not cause drowsiness and may even be helpful in some cases.
Seroquel works by affecting the way certain chemicals in the brain work. For example, it can increase the levels of certain hormones like testosterone and estrogen, which are often the culprits behind the behavior. These hormones play a crucial role in regulating mood, emotions, and cognition.
Seroquel may be used off-label to treat a variety of conditions. Some individuals may be hesitant to use Seroquel because of concerns about side effects or interactions with other medications they might be taking.
Seroquel is available as an over-the-counter (OTC) tablet. However, Seroquel comes in a form of (SQ) or (SQ-D2) that you can buy without a prescription or with a valid prescription from a doctor. Seroquel can also cause changes in certain heart rhythm (QT prolongation) or blood pressure markers. It may also increase the risk of developing certain types of cancers, including prostate cancer. It’s important to monitor these changes while taking Seroquel.
Before taking Seroquel, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medications, including any that you are currently taking, including:
It’s important to talk to your doctor before taking Seroquel. Your doctor will want to check your progress and if you are having any of these side effects. If you experience any of these side effects, your doctor may want to check these points in detail.
If you are being treated for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or a mental health disorder, your doctor may want to test your blood test for the following symptoms:
You may also want to have your blood test done to monitor your thyroid levels and how well they are metabolized. It is important to tell your doctor about any of these points when taking Seroquel.
If you experience symptoms of drowsiness or other side effects, be sure to tell your doctor. They will likely do a thyroid test and monitor you closely while you are taking Seroquel.
